세미나 제목 : Low Cost and Low Power Networked Sensor Platform for Internet of Things
Internet of Things (IoT) is a technical megatrend in academia and industry that aims to provide Internet connectivity to resource constrained embedded devices deployed over large areas. IoT has the potential to facilitate a variety of useful applications that impact industry and global markets, and also create a synergy effect with big data analysis and artificial intelligence by providing useful sensing data. To this end, low cost and low power networked sensor platform, which incorporates (1) hardware, (2) operating system (OS), and (3) network, needs to be provided. The recent emergence of integrated 32-bit MCU, radio and flash System-on-Chip (SoC) components presents an opportunity to re-examine design points and trade-offs at all levels of the system architecture of networked sensors. This presentation shares our design experience of Hamilton, a $10~20 and 32-bit networked sensor platform with >5 year lifetime. In addition to the hardware aspect, we investigate the use of RIOT, a new open sourced multi-threading OS, in contrast to traditional event-driven OS such as TinyOS and Contiki. For low power network, we review the current status of an IPv6 routing standard for low power network, RPL, and investigate the use of OpenThread and TCP.
